Well if i was Cole's parents i would press charges. In the book Cole's dad was very mad because they said he shouldn't get locked up.
They should feel sympathetic and satisfied. they should feel bad, for Cole almost died, however it got Peters revenge in a way.
I believe that peters parents are very angered at Cole due to the fact that peter is taking peprminent damage from this horrific beating.
Peter's parents would probably be scared for their son and other kids safety. Since, they found out he the burned a cabin, tried to escape, and then, tried to kill a bear. I don't think Peter's parents would want him to go back and would rather have him in jail because of what he did to their son and what he did on the island.
I think Peter's parents would want Cole to be put in jail because he had smashed Peters head in the concrete ground. Cole did give Peter many head injuries. I would understand that Peter's parents would want Cole to be put in jail because who would want to have there kid to be in pain and to be put in a fight.
They should let him go because he got beaten up like Cole did to Peter, so they are even now.
Peter's parents were very mad. Peters parents of course want him jail. Peters dad said in the novel how Cole should get locked up.
Peters parents would respond to Cole experience on the island as " that is what he gets for attacking our son". They should not allow Cole to go back. They don't know if they want him in jail. The Circle Of Justice should stand as thinking about should Cole go to jail or back to the island.
I personally believe that they should not let him go back to the island for two reasons, first of all he almost died on the island. Second of all Garvey told him on page 117, "Lose, and you end up crippled the rest of your life." (Mikaelson 117) And if he was a crippled arm his odds of surviving a whole year is very low.
If I was Peter's parents I would not want Cole to go back to the island. I believe that because Cole is only a teenager and he has been through a lot, I wouldn't want anything else bad to occur. Even though Cole attacked Peter, I wouldn't want someone else kid to face danger once again. The author says, "We have no way of knowing if Cole is over his anger"(Mikaelsen 130). I would want to wait it out and see if Cole makes any poor choices now on, and if so I would want him locked up. I wouldn't want to put Cole or others in danger.
I think Peter's parents should have sympathy towards Cole after what he just went through with the bear. Cole has had many chances to show his improvement with his choices. After the bear attack, Cole's perspective on his actions have changed. Although his perspective has changed, Peter's parents believe that people should not have to deal with Cole's poor choices, and he should face the consequences.
i believe that peters parents should not allow him to go back to the island. Cole also faced life threatning injuries and he lied there for 4 days and spent 6 months in a hostpital. As Edwin said sudden changes in life happen often and if Cole can sho that change than i think peters parents could see it in them to let him go.
I think they should give Cole a chance. Yes, Cole severely injured Peter, but Cole wants to change and he should show them that he has already changed. They wanted Cole to go to jail because he really hurt Peter and going to an island is too much freedom.
In my opinion in think that Peter's parents should react in a optimistic way. They should give him a chance for a better life, he's changed his mindset quite a lot. They could have Cole pay for Peter's medical bills, instead of jail. Cole had learned his lesson; they may listen to Cole's story and be considerate. Cole now understands how Peter felt when he was attacked.
Based on the comments of the lawyer,"cole can fix, but he has to face the consequences"(Mikaelsen 126). Based on this we should be able to infer that peter parents want him to jail or face a even worse consequence.
Peters parents probably think that Cole deserved getting mauled by a bear. I think they should let him go back because since the first visit too the island he has changed tremendously in a good way. The circle of justice does want Cole in jail because of how he disobeyed them. Circle justice does not think he has changed.
Peters parents should feel sympathy for Cole after hearing of his attack. Even though Cole hurt Peter, he is still a child. Cole now understands what it is like to be the smaller one in a situation, so he has learned his lesson. Peters parents still want him to end up in jail without caring about his near death experience. They still want him to serve time for Peter. They also still stand as the victims of the circle justice, and are they're going further with the idea of sending Cole to jail. Peters lawyer stats," This is Coles fault. Its not something Cole can fix, but he can face the consequences"(Mikaelsen 126).
Peter's parents would probably won't care were he is as long as he is a faraway from Peter as possible. Peters lawyer says that "Its time for Cole to face real consequences." (chapter 5, page 127). We can infer that they most likely want him in jail.
