When Cole gets sent to the island, he rages and burns down the hut the Indians made him. Cole dosen't realize that he isn't stronger than everybody else. Then the bear attacks him and Cole realizes there are other thins stronger than him.
In the first half of the novel Touching Spirit Bear Cole decided to go to an island near Alaska because he had to find a different way to make up for robbing the hardware store and smashing Peter's head against the pavement or else he had to go to jail. #YourChoice
After Cole gets attacked by the bear, he seems to realize that life is beautiful.Then Cole decides he dosen't want to die.
During the island situation, he starts to experience nature around him and the way he used to view about things starts to change a bit as you continue reading the novel.
Since Cole has beaten up Peter brutally. As punishment of his own poor actions and decisions, he gets sent to a island. He went through such misery when he got beaten by a bear. He is experiencing what Peter had gone through and how it was like being in Peter's shoes. #Cole's actions
